About Mukto Mona
Where Free Minds Unite
Mukto-Mona (meaning “Free Mind”) is a pioneering online platform that unites freethinkers, rationalists, skeptics, atheists, and humanists—primarily of Bengali and South Asian heritage—across continents. Founded in 2001, Mukto-Mona emerged as a safe digital space for open discourse, critical inquiry, and the fearless exchange of progressive ideas.
In a world often divided by dogma and intolerance, our mission is clear: to promote science, secularism, rationalism, human rights, and religious harmony among all people, regardless of geography, faith, or background.

A Legacy of Free Thought and Resistance
Since its inception, Mukto-Mona has attracted a vibrant and courageous community of thinkers, including authors, scientists, philosophers, activists, and concerned global citizens. We are committed to challenging irrational beliefs, questioning oppressive structures, and standing up for freedom of expression—even in the face of threats and censorship.
We proudly carry the torch of intellectual resistance inspired by iconic figures such as Avijit Roy—our late co-founder—whose fearless commitment to reason, science, and secular values continues to guide us today.

What We Stand For
At Mukto-Mona, we believe that truth, reason, and compassion are universal values not privileges. Our platform exists to challenge blind faith, expose injustice, and promote a more rational, inclusive, and ethical world. We are united by a commitment to freethought and driven by a shared responsibility to speak out against oppression, pseudoscience, and intolerance wherever they appear.
